The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has alerted the public about a fraudulent scheme demanding N15,700 to reschedule the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates who missed their exams.
JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, in a statement on Thursday, dissociated the Board from the fraudulent Sterling Bank account, 8520641017, named “Copyrightwriter Personal J Rescheduling Flw.” He described it as a scam aimed at deceiving desperate candidates.
“This is a blatant scam,” Benjamin said. “These fraudsters have no affiliation with JAMB or any government agency. The account is fictitious and meant solely to defraud.”
He urged Sterling Bank to take swift action and confirmed that security agencies are already investigating the matter.
Benjamin clarified that JAMB does not reschedule exams for candidates who miss their appointments unless it’s due to biometric verification failures. In such cases, the affected candidates will be rescheduled at no cost.
“JAMB does not charge any fee after registration,” he emphasized, urging candidates to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities.
