In a remarkable demonstration of team work ,intellectual acuity and shared purpose, three dons from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning , Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA Professor Julius Fasakin ,Professor Julius Owoeye and Dr Fayokemi Abe have coauthored and presented a book on PATH WAYS TO HOUSING DELIVERY IN NIGERIA, capturing the Dynamics and Urban Development Planning issues in the country’s housing sector.
Speaking at the formal presentation of the new book on June 16 , 2026 at the T.I Auditorium of the University, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Professor Taiwo Amos, congratulated the three authors on the successful launch of their co-authored book, describing the achievement as a testament to their dedication, intellectual capacity and commitment to advancing knowledge. She commended their collaborative effort, noting that the publication reflects the University’s culture of excellence in teaching, research and community service.
In a remark, the Dean school of Environmental Technology, Professor Joseph Basorun congratulated the authors for the laudable achievement, particularly the noble contribution to scholarship and knowledge on topical issues in Nigerian. Professor Basorun acknowledged that one of the necessities of life is shelter stating that quantitative and qualitative supply of it has now become a worldwide challenge as most governments grapple with the inadequacies to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
He commended the staff and Head of Department Uban Regional Planning, Professor, Adebayo Emmanuel for their unwavering support and collective effort in rallying around the authors to ensure the success of the book launch.
On behalf of the authors, Professor Julius Fasakin, said the goal is to provide readers with practical knowledge and a fresh perspective on the issues relating to housing delivery in Nigeria. He thanked everyone present and while expressing the hope that the book will inspire, educate and encourage meaningful reflection on housing delivery in Nigeria.
The book reviewer, a professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile -Ife, Osun State, Albert Abegunde,gave comprehensive and insightful review of the publication, highlighting its key themes, strength and relevance to contemporary issues. He commended the authors for their depth of knowledge, clarity of presentation and collaborative efforts in producing a work that is both informative and engaging. He noted that the book would serve as a valuable resource for students, academics and other key players in the housing sector.
