Mingdaw Upper Basic and Senior Secondary School has celebrated academic excellence and outstanding service during its 4th Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony, held on the school premises under the leadership of Principal, Madam Ajaratou Kumba Konjira.
The event brought together parents, teachers, students and distinguished guests to recognise exceptional academic achievements and mark the graduation of 585 Grade Nine students and 479 Grade 12 students from various streams.
In her keynote address, Principal Konjira expressed appreciation to the school’s support structures for their continued commitment to educational development. She reaffirmed her administration’s resolve to sustain high academic standards and voiced confidence in improved performance in this year’s WAEC/WASSCE examinations, citing the school’s qualified teaching staff and improved infrastructure.
The ceremony featured the presentation of merit awards to outstanding students and staff in recognition of their dedication and exceptional performance.
Babucarr Sillah of the Grade 12 Science class emerged as the Overall Best Male Student after earning distinctions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and English Language. He recorded an impressive seven A grades, alongside a B2 in English Language and Civic Education in the recently concluded private WASSCE examination.
Isatou Sowe received the Overall Best Female Student Award in recognition of her outstanding academic performance.
The Teacher of the Year Award was presented to Mr. Landing Dolleh by Madam Isatou Ndow in recognition of his commitment, professionalism and exemplary service to the school.
According to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE), the awards programme aligns with the ministry’s commitment to promoting excellence, inclusivity and fairness within the education system through merit-based recognition while reducing unnecessary financial burdens on families.
