The Ekiti State Government has begun a major renovation and upgrade of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Emure-Ise-Orun. Here are five key things to know about the project:
1. The Camp Is Undergoing a Major Renovation
The upgrade follows Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s promise to improve the camp and create a better environment for corps members serving in Ekiti State.
2. Nineteen Projects Are Being Executed
According to the state government, 19 projects are currently ongoing at the camp, covering several key facilities and infrastructure.
3. Hostels and Key Facilities Are Being Upgraded
Projects include the renovation of five male hostels, seven female hostels, the registration centre, dining section, kitchen, stores, perimeter fence, gatehouse and the NYSC State Coordinator’s lodge.
4. Solar Lighting Will Be Installed
The government plans to install solar-powered lighting across the camp to improve security, visibility and overall comfort for corps members and officials.
5. The State Wants the Camp Among Nigeria’s Best
Officials say the renovation will give the camp a modern look and a more conducive environment for orientation activities, with the goal of making it one of the leading NYSC camps in the country.
The projects are expected to be completed within two months, allowing corps members to resume camp activities in an upgraded facility.
