Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled, the Federal Ministry of Education has announced.
The assurance was given by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, who said all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a safe, smooth and seamless start to the new academic session.
According to the minister, the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain a top priority for the Federal Government.
He disclosed that relevant security agencies have been notified of the resumption plans and are maintaining heightened vigilance around Federal Unity Colleges and their surrounding communities.
Alausa urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and continue preparations for their children and wards to return to school as scheduled.
He also directed school authorities to maintain close collaboration with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to ensure an orderly and secure resumption across all Federal Unity Colleges.
The minister called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together in sustaining peaceful, supportive and safe learning environments, stressing that the security and wellbeing of learners remain a shared responsibility.
He added that the ministry would continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures, in partnership with appropriate authorities, to support the smooth and successful resumption of academic activities nationwide.
Alausa reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring that children have access to quality education in safe and conducive learning environments.
He noted that the effort aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places education and human capital development at the centre of Nigeria’s long-term growth and national development strategy.
The ministry assured students, parents, guardians and the general public that all necessary measures are in place to support a peaceful and successful resumption in Federal Unity Colleges across the country.
