Lead City University has emerged winner of an inter-universities debate competition hosted by Fountain University, outperforming eight other institutions in a keenly contested intellectual showdown.
The competition, held on April 29, 2026, featured debates on the motion, “The media is responsible for the rise of moral decadence among youths.” Representing Lead City University, the Lead City Intellectual and Debating Society delivered a standout performance, securing first place with a score of 84.6 per cent.
Redeemer’s University came second with 77 per cent, followed by Osun State University with 71.4 per cent, while
Fountain University placed fourth with 70.9 per cent. Other participating institutions included Federal University of Health Sciences Ila-Orangun, Al-Hikmah University, and University of Ibadan.
In addition to the team’s victory, Bodunde Ebenezer Olayemi was named Best Speaker Overall, further underscoring the university’s dominance at the event.
The winning team comprised Ebenezer Olayemi Bodunde, Khaerat Muhammed-Raji, and Sharon Chimuayan Azaka, who were coached by Dr. Anthony Amedu and Miss Deborah Anuoluwapo Demurin under the leadership of Abraham Adeniyi.
The achievement highlights Lead City University’s growing reputation in academic and extracurricular excellence, particularly in debate and public speaking.
