An Alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) who also worked as a Technologist in the institution, Ebenezer Olukanni has won the 2026 Virginia Tech Myers-Lawson School of Construction Outstanding Graduate Student Award at the American University where he’s currently a Ph.D Student.

Congratulations to Ebenezer Olukanni, recipient of the Virginia Tech Myers-Lawson School of Construction Outstanding Graduate Student Award!
A Ph.D. candidate in environmental design and planning at Virginia Tech and a member of the Smart Systems Lab, Olukanni was recognized for his research excellence and contributions to advancing construction education and workforce development. His research explores immersive virtual training environments, multimodal and neurosymbolic AI, and applications of AI in construction robotics and wildfire resilience.
His work has been published in leading journals, with additional research under review, and he has contributed to multiple National Science Foundation proposals and peer reviews. In 2025, he also received the MLSoC Certificate of Scholarly Recognition for his impactful and innovative scholarship.
