Nine Bahamian students have been awarded fully funded scholarships to pursue higher education at universities in Guizhou and Hunan Province in the People’s Republic of China.
The scholarships, presented by Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, cover full tuition and accommodation costs, giving the recipients the opportunity to study at leading Chinese universities.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology described the awards as another milestone in the 25-year educational partnership between The Bahamas and China, noting that the collaboration has provided life-changing academic opportunities for Bahamian students while strengthening bilateral relations.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to the Government of the People’s Republic of China, Ambassador Yan and the Chinese Embassy for their continued investment in education and youth development.
Congratulating the students and their families, the Ministry encouraged the scholarship recipients to excel academically, represent The Bahamas with distinction and return home with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to national development.
