A school teacher has been stabbed to death by her 17-year-old student in the Perm region of Russia, in a disturbing incident that has raised fresh concerns over school safety.
The attack occurred on Tuesday at the entrance of a school in the town of Dobryanka, according to regional authorities.
The victim, identified as Olesya Petrovna Baguta, a Russian language and literature teacher born in 1970, later died despite efforts by medical personnel to save her.
Regional governor Dmitry Makhonin confirmed the incident, expressing regret over the loss.
Police authorities said the attacker, a student of the school, has been arrested and is currently in custody.
The incident adds to a growing list of violent attacks reported in Russian schools in recent months, including knife assaults and other forms of violence in different regions.
Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
