The University of Jos, Plateau State, has received a major disbursement from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to cover institutional charges for students benefiting from the student loan scheme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to details released on Wednesday, the institution received a total sum of ₦249,173,000 for the payment of statutory charges for one thousand seven hundred and thirty four students enrolled at the university.
The payment, which was received on March 11, 2026, is expected to ease the financial burden on beneficiaries and support their uninterrupted academic pursuit.
The intervention forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda to expand access to higher education and ensure that financial constraints do not prevent qualified Nigerian students from completing their studies.
Stakeholders in the education sector have continued to commend the NELFUND initiative, describing it as a significant step toward improving access to tertiary education and reducing the economic pressure on students and their families.
The latest disbursement to the University of Jos adds to the growing number of tertiary institutions benefiting from the scheme across the country.
