The Nigerian National Commission for UNESCO (NATCOM-UNESCO) has announced a call for applications for its Virtual Training Initiative in Quantum Science and Technology, aimed at empowering young African women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Organised in collaboration with the University of Basel and Moth Quantum, the programme will provide participants with advanced skills in one of the world’s fastest-growing scientific fields.
Eligible applicants include PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, junior faculty members within five years of completing their PhD, and early-career researchers aged 35 or below. Candidates are required to have a working knowledge of linear algebra and strong proficiency in English.
The training will offer participants the opportunity to learn from global experts, connect with peers across Africa, and contribute to the continent’s growing presence in the quantum technology sector.
Applications close on Sunday, August 31, 2025. Interested candidates can apply via the official application form or request further information by emailing [iyq2025@unesco.org](mailto:iyq2025@unesco.org).
