The National Youth Service Corps has warned Corps members against using social media negatively, urging them to post content that reflects positively on the Scheme and the country.
NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, gave the caution on Friday while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps members at the Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku.
In a statement posted on the NYSC official X handle, the DG said any Corps member who uses social media irresponsibly will face sanctions. He also advised them to avoid unauthorised trips and obey all camp rules.
“Follow instructions, be obedient, do your biometrics and attend your Community Development Service. Respect the cultural values of your host communities and do not misrepresent the Scheme at your place of primary assignment,” he warned.
Earlier, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, reported that 2,101 Corps members — 944 male and 1,157 female — were deployed to the state, adding that camp activities were going on smoothly with good discipline.
PUNCH Online had earlier reported that Brigadier General Nafiu gave a similar charge in Rivers State, urging Corps members to uphold patriotism, integrity, transparency, and commitment throughout their service year and beyond.
