The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has expanded its infrastructure with the completion of additional guest chalets at the International Scholars Lodge complex within the university premises. The facility was officially handed over to the university by the contractor during a ceremony held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Adenike Oladiji, said the new chalets reflect the institution’s commitment to developing world-class facilities. She explained that the lodges were designed to provide comfortable and affordable accommodation for local and international guests, including visiting scholars and researchers. According to her, the project marks a significant milestone for the university, noting that it is the first purpose-built guest lodge in FUTA’s history, as earlier facilities were converted from old residential quarters.
Oladiji commended the lead contractor, Sunday Oderinde, and the consultants for delivering quality structures. She also urged the Director of the FUTA Business Development Company (International Scholars Lodge), Helen Ogunsuyi, to ensure proper management and maintenance of the facility.
Also speaking, the Director of Physical Planning, Oladeji Boyinbode, described the project as a milestone that would improve the experience of visiting academics and dignitaries. Similarly, the university’s Registrar, Charles Adeleye, described the completion of the lodge as historic, praising the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and noting that the facility would strengthen the university’s capacity to host both local and international guests.
