On Saturday, 5th April 2025, teachers from various Secondary schools in and around Akure metropolis gathered at BON Hotel in Ijapo Estate, Akure for the inaugural auditions for SO
YOU THINK YOU CAN TEACH (SYTYCT), a reality talent teaching competition that celebrates academic
excellence and rewards outstanding teachers. 15 successful contestants emerged out of over 80 teachers who registered online.
The judges panel for the SYTYCT Akure auditions included Princess Dupe Adetuwo, Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Arts and Culture and a distinguished Theatre
Practitioner; Mr Raphael Aiyebusuwa, an accomplished Musician and Civil Servant; as well
as Mrs Opeyemi Owoeye, a serial Entrepreneur and Business Development Consultant.

SYTYCT auditions enable teachers to display their teaching skills and rewards them for their innovation and creativity in Pedagogy. Teachers assessed in SYTYCT auditions, in key towns and cities all over Nigeria, will be promoted after each stage up to State and Regional finals and eventually to a National Grand-Finale that will be viewed nationwide.
SYTYCT Season One covers the 6 States in the South West of Nigeria. A total of 20 auditions will be held in towns and cities across all South West states. Successful teachers, who will go on to higher stages of the competition, will also be encouraged through votes cast digitally by Nigerians nationwide, on all major mobile communications platforms.
Winners in SYTYCT will be rewarded with prizes at every stage of the competition. Prizes for
the Regional winners run into millions of Naira plus free installation of Teleschools Digital
Library, valued in millions of Naira, in their schools.
SYTYCT also enables members of the public to nominate outstanding teachers who they believe should take part in the
competition as they stand a good chance of winning one of the major prizes.
