The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 2025, organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), commenced nationwide yesterday with minimal hitches, as centre administrators and supervisors praised the smooth process.
With over 2,030,627 candidates registered across 700 CBT centres, the examination is scheduled to run until April 30.
At Lavogue British International School CBT Centre, Kurudu, Administrator Ubammadu Akwuruoha expressed satisfaction with the seamless start and applauded the punctuality of candidates and the absence of technical challenges.
At Airmax Computer Institute, Madalla, Centre Owner Emmanuel Ehikwe said:
> “The examination started exactly at 8 am and the turnout was impressive.”
At Rosa Mystica Academy, JAMB-accredited supervisor Salihu Mustapha also commended early arrivals and smooth accreditation:
> “We started accreditation at 6:30 am, and the exam began promptly at 8 am. It was a well-coordinated exercise.”
He mentioned that Thursday featured two sessions, with three and four sessions slated for Friday and Saturday respectively.
Similarly, Dr. Aminu Abdullahi, supervisor at Ade-Ola International Schools CBT Centre, Kubwa, applauded JAMB’s efficiency and highlighted strong cooperation from centre management.
> “Everything is in order – seating, security, punctuality. JAMB keeps evolving and improving.”
Candidates echoed the positive feedback. Adams George, a first-time UTME candidate, said:
> “It was a good experience. No computer malfunctions or technical issues.”
However, some parents expressed concerns over the early start time, especially for candidates travelling long distances.
> “Someone I know had to travel from Deidei to Bwari. The risk of missing the exam is high with the 8 am start,” said Shaibu Peter.
Another parent, Ijeoma Joseph, said:
> “We had to sleep close to the centre in Madalla just to make it on time. The start time is tough on families.”
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, noted that results would be released after the conclusion of the exam. He added that by Monday, 90% of the candidates would have completed their tests.
