The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the generation of profile codes for candidates intending to sit for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The development marks the first official step toward the registration process for the 2026 examination.
To generate a profile code, prospective candidates are required to send their 11-digit National Identification Number (NIN) via SMS to either 55019 or 66019. The message must contain only the NIN, sent from a mobile phone number registered in the candidate’s name.
JAMB explained that the profile code, which is unique to each candidate, is mandatory for UTME registration and will be used throughout the admission process. The board also advised candidates to ensure the phone number used is active, correctly linked to their NIN, and retained for future communication, as SMS charges may apply.
With the commencement of profile code generation, candidates are encouraged to complete the process early to avoid delays once the sale of UTME e-PINs begins. The profile code will be required for registration at accredited CBT centres and for subsequent admission-related activities.
