The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has announced plans to commission over 467 intervention projects across 271 beneficiary tertiary institutions nationwide within the next eight months.
Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja during the foundation-laying ceremony of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja)/TETFund Centre of Excellence.
According to Echono, the projects are scheduled for inauguration between now and October 2026. He explained that the interventions include 50 iconic projects, with each state expected to host at least two.
He further clarified that while TETFund would directly commission the iconic projects, beneficiary institutions would be responsible for commissioning the remaining projects.
Echono noted that the newly proposed UniAbuja Leadership Centre is designed to serve as a central hub for leadership development, providing a platform for high-level speeches, conventions, and training programmes.
The facility, when completed, is expected to strengthen capacity building by producing leaders equipped to address modern governance challenges and promote sustainable national development.
In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi, described the project as a significant milestone that reinforces the longstanding partnership between the institution and TETFund.
