Juneberry School successfully defended its title at the 2026 Children’s Day Spelling Bee Competition organised by the Foundation for Human Capacity Development and Innovation, emerging as overall winner in a contest that celebrated academic excellence among pupils in Suleja, Niger State.
The annual competition, facilitated by the foundation’s founder, Hamza Ibrahim, brought together pupils from public and private schools across Suleja Local Government Area in a keenly contested exercise designed to promote learning, confidence and healthy academic competition.
At the grand finale held as part of activities marking Children’s Day, Juneberry School once again demonstrated its academic strength, retaining the championship trophy and reaffirming its status as the team to beat in the competition.
Hassan Dallatu Model School emerged as first runner-up, while Global Vision School claimed third place after defeating Engr. Mukhtar Primary School, Gwazunu in the third-place playoff.
Organisers described the spelling bee as an annual initiative aimed at encouraging academic excellence, fostering a culture of learning and inspiring pupils to strive for success through hard work, discipline and determination.
The winning schools received trophies and cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding performances.
Parents, teachers and guests at the event commended the foundation for sustaining the programme, noting that it has continued to provide young learners with a platform to showcase their intellectual abilities while promoting healthy competition among schools.
