Ogun State has intensified efforts to modernize teaching and learning through digital innovation, as 122 School Programme Administrators (SPAs) in Obafemi Owode I Zone participated in a capacity-building workshop under the OgunLearn initiative.
The training, which recorded a 73 per cent attendance rate, brought together administrators from both primary and secondary schools, reflecting strong engagement from education stakeholders across the zone.
The programme was designed to strengthen digital literacy and improve the use of educational technology in classrooms. Participants were introduced to practical applications of the OgunLearn platform, alongside sessions on digital skills development and modern classroom management techniques aimed at enhancing teaching effectiveness.
The workshop was led by the Zonal Education Officer, Mrs. Aranmolate, with support from OgunLearn Ambassadors in the zone. Facilitators emphasized hands-on learning, ensuring that participants could directly apply the tools and strategies introduced during the training to their daily school operations.
According to organizers, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to embed technology into the education system by empowering key school-level administrators who can cascade knowledge to teachers and students. By focusing on SPAs, the programme aims to create a multiplier effect that extends digital transformation across schools in the zone.
The success of the training was also attributed to collaboration among key education stakeholders, including the Zonal Education Office in Obafemi Owode I, as well as professional associations such as AOPSHON, APSTON, and ANCOPSS. Their involvement, stakeholders say, helped strengthen coordination and ensured broad participation across schools.
Education observers note that Ogun State has been increasingly prioritizing digital transformation in its education sector, moving from policy discussions to practical implementation. Initiatives like OgunLearn are seen as part of this shift, focusing not only on infrastructure and platforms but also on building the capacity of educators to effectively use them.
Participants at the workshop described the training as timely, especially as schools continue to adapt to evolving teaching methods and the growing role of technology in education delivery. Many expressed optimism that the skills acquired would improve classroom engagement and learning outcomes.
With sustained investment in teacher training and institutional collaboration, stakeholders believe Ogun State is laying a foundation for a more technology-driven and future-ready education system, starting from the classroom level upward.
