4. Famous for: Being the first Nigerian to move the motion for Nigeria’s independence in 1953.
5. He moved the independence motion at the Federal House of Representatives in Lagos.
6. At the time he moved the motion, he was only 30 years old, making him one of the youngest lawmakers in the House.
7. Though his 1953 motion did not immediately succeed, it ignited the final push toward independence in 1960.
8. He was a leading member of the Action Group (AG), led by Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
9. Enahoro was a strong advocate of federalism, democracy, and press freedom.
10. He served as Minister of Information during the First Republic.
11. He was also Minister of Reconstruction and Rehabilitation during the post–civil war period.
12. Enahoro was a journalist and editor before fully entering politics and used the press as a tool for nationalism.
13. During the political crisis of the First Republic, he was imprisoned several times because of his political views.
14. He later became a key voice in the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), opposing military rule in the 1990s.
