The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has remitted a total of ₦1,570,671,200 to Computer-Based Test centres that participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration exercise.
The Board disclosed this in a bulletin signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.
According to JAMB, the amount represents the ₦700 registration fee paid by candidates for services rendered by CBT centres during the UTME registration process.
The Board explained that it collects the ₦700 registration fee alongside the UTME ePIN registration charge when candidates make payments and subsequently remits the appropriate amount directly to accredited CBT centres on a weekly basis.
“In line with this arrangement, the Board has remitted a total sum of ₦1,570,671,200 to the CBT centres that participated in the 2026 UTME registration exercise,” the statement noted.
JAMB added that the system was introduced to protect candidates from unauthorised charges and ensure that CBT centres do not impose additional registration fees on students.
Under the arrangement, candidates who purchase the UTME ePIN are not required to make separate payments at CBT centres and can complete their registration at any accredited centre nationwide.
The Board also noted that the initiative has strengthened the cashless registration process, particularly among privately owned CBT centres.
To further ensure transparency, JAMB said it introduced the “No View, No Pay” policy, under which payments are made to CBT centres only after verifying that the candidates registered by them are valid and visible on the Board’s registration system.
“The policy is designed to curb registration infractions and ensure transparency in the process,” the Board added.
The 2026 UTME registration closed on February 28, while the examination is scheduled to hold nationwide from April 16 to April 25, 2026.
Meanwhile, Direct Entry registration, which began on March 2, will run until April 25, 2026.
