Nigerian students may soon earn UK degrees without leaving the country, as the Federal Government moves to establish a campus of Coventry University in Nigeria.
The initiative, driven through a Transnational Education (TNE) partnership, is designed to expand access to globally recognised education while reducing the cost of studying abroad.
The proposed campus, to be located in Alaro City, Lagos State, will offer Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in STEMM, Business, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), with degrees equivalent to those awarded in the United Kingdom.
For many students, this development signals a major shift—bringing international education closer to home while improving access to quality learning and employable skills.
Admissions are expected to begin between the third and fourth quarters of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
The move also reflects ongoing efforts to position Nigeria as a hub for skills development, innovation, and globally competitive education.
