The Vice Chancellor of Babcock University, Afolarin Ojewole, has reiterated the institution’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the media industry and producing graduates equipped for global relevance.
Ojewole made this known during a courtesy visit and interactive session with the management team of TVC Communications at its headquarters in Eko Atlantic City.
He explained that the university remains focused on bridging the gap between academia and industry, noting that its corporate social responsibility initiatives are evolving beyond advocacy for women’s empowerment in media to include broader professional development across gender lines.
According to him, Babcock’s collaboration with TVC and other partners is designed to equip students and professionals with practical skills required in today’s dynamic media landscape.
“Babcock prepares people for the real world,” Ojewole said, adding that competencies such as storytelling, production, teamwork, and the ability to meet deadlines are better developed through collaborative engagements.
Under a partnership agreement initiated in 2022, Babcock University provides academic training for 20 female staff members of TVC enrolled in Postgraduate Diploma, MBA, and Master’s degree programmes, in exchange for media services.
Responding, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of TVC Communications, Victoria Ajayi, welcomed the proposed renewal of the partnership. She was joined by other members of the management team, including Kemi Shonubi, Victoria Erhahi, and Edward Akintara.
Ajayi commended the university for leveraging the media beyond traditional event coverage, noting that such collaborations enhance institutional visibility and impact.
“We are glad to see Babcock maximizing this partnership for growth. Not many institutions fully understand the strategic power of the media,” she said.
Also speaking, Senior Reporter at TVC, Sharon Ijasan, highlighted the benefits of the initiative, describing it as a platform that continues to promote women’s advancement and break barriers in corporate leadership.

Since its inception, the programme has benefited several participants, contributing to capacity building within the media sector.
Babcock University, the VC added, is also expanding similar collaborations with other media organisations as part of its broader mission to develop globally competitive graduates and empower professionals across industries.
