Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has received a significant funding boost following the disbursement of ₦676,595,875 from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The disbursement, made on March 9, 2026, will cover tuition and statutory charges for 2,307 students of the institution, providing much-needed financial relief and ensuring uninterrupted access to education.
Officials say the intervention is part of ongoing efforts to expand access to higher education and reduce the financial burden on students and their families. The funding aligns with the federal government’s broader commitment to improving educational outcomes under its Renewed Hope agenda.
With this development, thousands of beneficiaries at the university are expected to continue their academic programmes without disruption, reinforcing confidence in the sustainability of the student loan scheme.
Education stakeholders have described the disbursement as a timely intervention that will not only support students but also strengthen institutional stability by ensuring fee payments are met.
The NELFUND initiative continues to play a critical role in bridging financing gaps in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector, with more institutions expected to benefit from similar disbursements in the coming months.
