The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced Saturday, June 13, 2026, as the date for the conduct of the mop-up examination for candidates affected during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB disclosed this in a statement issued by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, explaining that the mop-up exercise is meant for candidates who successfully presented themselves and were biometrically verified during the main examination but could not sit for the test due to technical or other challenges.
The 2026 UTME was conducted nationwide between April 23 and April 29, 2026. However, according to the examination body, some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres experienced technical glitches that disrupted the examination process and prevented several candidates from taking their tests.
The Board also revealed that some candidates whose results were withdrawn over examination infractions, as well as those who could not be verified biometrically despite presenting themselves at their centres, have been included in the mop-up exercise.
JAMB described the mop-up examination as the final phase of the 2026 UTME process, aimed at resolving all pending examination-related issues involving affected candidates.
“The mop-up examination represents the final phase of the annual UTME exercise and serves as an opportunity to address all outstanding examination challenges involving candidates who duly presented themselves but encountered difficulties in taking the examination,” the statement read.
The Board advised affected candidates to begin printing their Examination Notification Slips from Saturday, June 6, 2026, in preparation for the exercise.
Candidates were also urged to familiarise themselves with their examination centres and make necessary arrangements ahead of the examination date, stressing that there would be no further opportunity for any candidate to sit for the 2026 UTME after the mop-up examination.
JAMB further encouraged candidates to adhere strictly to examination guidelines and arrive at their designated centres early to avoid unnecessary delays or complications on the examination day.
The announcement is expected to bring relief to thousands of candidates across the country who were unable to complete the examination during the initial UTME exercise due to circumstances beyond their control.
