The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) has announced a renewed and expanded verification exercise targeting in-service graduates and public education staff as part of its ongoing status regularisation and civil service data cleanup.
According to the Ministry, the exercise follows the completion of a recent status regularisation process involving in-service students enrolled at the University of The Gambia and the University of Education. While a significant number of graduates have successfully had their records regularised, authorities say some cases remain unresolved.
The Ministry stated that affected graduates who have completed their programmes but are yet to be regularised are required to report for immediate documentation and verification. They are expected to present key documents including a national identity card, appointment letter, and any relevant academic or employment records to support their case.
In a parallel directive, MoBSE also called on teaching and administrative staff who were not captured during the earlier civil service verification exercise to participate in a final verification window scheduled to hold from June 1 to June 15, 2026. The Ministry said this step is crucial to ensure that all personnel records are accurately reflected in the national education database.
Officials explained that both exercises are part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening transparency, improving personnel management, and ensuring that only properly verified and qualified staff remain on the government payroll and education system records.
MoBSE urged all affected individuals to comply promptly, emphasizing that the process is designed to safeguard the integrity of the education sector while supporting the professional advancement and welfare of educators across the country.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to completing the regularisation process in a fair and transparent manner, noting that no eligible staff or graduate will be left out once proper documentation is provided.
