The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has activated its portal for the conversion of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application to Direct Entry (DE), providing eligible candidates with the opportunity to change their admission category.
The development is aimed at candidates who initially registered for the 2026 UTME but have since obtained qualifications that make them eligible for Direct Entry admission into Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions.
According to information released by the Board, the conversion process is not available for self-service online. Eligible candidates are required to visit any JAMB-approved Professional Registration Centre (PRC) or accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre nationwide to complete the exercise.
Candidates are expected to present the necessary academic credentials and other required documents during the conversion process to facilitate the update of their admission status on the JAMB portal.
The activation of the portal is expected to benefit candidates who have recently completed programmes such as the National Diploma (ND), Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), IJMB, JUPEB, or other recognised qualifications accepted for Direct Entry admission.
JAMB has advised all affected candidates to ensure that they complete the conversion process through authorised registration centres only and to avoid dealing with unauthorised individuals who may exploit applicants.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent and seamless admission process, urging candidates to follow all official guidelines as preparations for the 2026 admission exercise continue.
