The Gombe State Government has approved N183.58 million for the conduct of the Mock and Special Entrance Examination and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the state.
The approval, announced by the Commissioner for Information, Moses Kyari, is aimed at ensuring that the examinations are properly funded and conducted under effective and credible arrangements.
Of the total amount, N64.86 million was approved for the Mock and Special Entrance Examination. The funding is expected to provide eligible students with the necessary support and ensure that the examination is conducted smoothly.
The government said the intervention would help prevent students from being disadvantaged by inadequate funding and strengthen the administration of the examination.
A larger sum of N118.72 million was approved for the conduct of the BECE across the state.
The BECE is an important examination at the end of the basic education cycle, making adequate funding essential for its effective administration. The government said the allocation would support the credibility, accessibility and smooth conduct of the examination.
According to the state government, the two approvals form part of its broader efforts to strengthen the education sector and promote human capital development.
The government also reaffirmed its commitment to providing the resources required to ensure that examinations across Gombe are conducted efficiently and that students have a fair opportunity to participate.
With the latest approvals, the Gombe State Government’s total financial commitment to the two examination activities stands at N183,580,870.
