Babcock University has announced plans to host the Innovation Ventures Summit 2026, a two-day event scheduled for April 21 and 22, aimed at advancing conversations around technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation in Nigeria.
The summit, to be held on the university campus, is expected to convene a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including government officials, corporate executives, academics, researchers, innovators, and students.
At the centre of the event is the university’s ambitious vision to establish a world-class innovation hub designed to rival leading global technology ecosystems and position Nigeria as a major player in the digital economy.
University authorities described the initiative as both timely and strategic, noting that the global economy is increasingly driven by innovation and digital transformation.
“Nigeria stands at a defining moment. Nations that fail to act decisively risk being left behind. This summit is a call to action to build, collaborate, and lead,” the institution said in a statement.
According to organisers, the proposed innovation hub will serve as a platform for research, startup incubation, industry collaboration, and the commercialisation of ideas. It is also expected to bridge the gap between academia and industry while empowering young talents to contribute to economic growth.
Stakeholders say the initiative comes at a critical time, given Nigeria’s growing youth population and expanding digital ecosystem.
The summit will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, live demonstrations, and strategic engagements focusing on emerging technologies, policy development, startup ecosystems, and investment opportunities.
Participants will also explore pathways for partnerships, funding, and technical collaboration required to bring the proposed innovation hub to reality.
The university has extended an open invitation to public and private sector leaders, investors, development partners, and innovators to participate in the summit and support the initiative through strategic partnerships, financial investments, technical expertise, and policy backing.
Organisers noted that the event is expected to attract national and international attention, positioning both the university and Nigeria at the forefront of innovation and technology discourse in Africa.
They emphasised that the summit goes beyond a conventional gathering, describing it as a platform for shaping the future of Nigeria’s technology landscape.
