The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the full digitisation of the authentication and evaluation process for academic credentials, eliminating the need for physical visits to its offices.
The development, unveiled as part of the Federal Government’s broader digital transformation agenda, is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery across the education sector.
Under the new system, applicants seeking verification of their academic certificates can now complete the entire process online through the Ministry’s official portal. This includes registration and the submission of required documents digitally.
As part of the guidelines, applicants are also required to request their respective institutions to forward academic transcripts directly to the Ministry using official email channels to ensure proper verification.
The Ministry noted that the transition to a fully automated platform is expected to streamline procedures, significantly reduce processing time, and enhance the credibility of academic credential verification in Nigeria.
It advised applicants to strictly comply with the new process to avoid delays and ensure seamless processing of their requests.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry.
The move marks another step in the government’s push to modernise public service operations and reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks through digital innovation.
