The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified why some candidates are seeing a “No Result Yet” message when checking their UTME results, following concerns raised by parents and guardians.
In a statement issued by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB explained that the affected candidates are those classified as underage, whose results have not yet been released.
According to the Board, eligibility rules require candidates to be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026 to sit for the UTME. However, exceptions exist for candidates with outstanding academic ability.
JAMB noted that underage candidates may still be considered under an exceptional category, but only if they meet strict performance criteria. Such candidates must score 320 and above in the UTME and achieve at least 80 percent in subsequent screening stages.
The Board added that, based on prior agreements with parents, only underage candidates who meet the 320 score threshold will be shortlisted for further evaluation. Those who successfully pass the additional screening stages may then be considered for admission under the exceptional candidates provision.
For now, JAMB emphasised that results for all underage candidates remain withheld, which is why the system displays “No Result Yet” when they attempt to check their scores.
