Students aspiring to pursue careers in medicine and other health professions will have more options from the 2026/2027 academic session as Wellspring University, Benin, Edo State, expands its academic offerings with five newly approved health programmes.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the introduction of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), B.Sc. Human Anatomy, B.Sc. Human Physiology, Bachelor of Health Information Management and Bachelor of Community Health Science at the university.
The institution disclosed the approval in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the programmes received the green light following a successful resource verification exercise conducted by a panel of experts from the NUC.
According to the university, the approval marks another milestone in its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and national development, while strengthening its presence in the health sciences.
The statement added that the approval reflects the NUC’s confidence in the university’s academic resources, infrastructure, governance and capacity to deliver quality university education in line with national standards.
It explained that the newly approved programmes would boost the institution’s capacity to train competent healthcare professionals capable of improving healthcare delivery and contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
The university also encouraged prospective candidates interested in any of the programmes to contact its admissions office or visit its official communication channels for information on admission requirements and application procedures for the 2026/2027 academic session.
