The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially begun rescheduling the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 379,997 candidates affected by technical and administrative issues during the just-concluded exam.
The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, where he acknowledged lapses that disrupted the exam process, especially in Lagos and across the South-East zone.
A total of 206,610 candidates in 65 centres across Lagos were affected, while 173,387 candidates across 92 centres in the five South-East states experienced similar issues.
“I apologise and take full responsibility for the disruptions,” Prof. Oloyede said.
He added that rescheduled candidates would begin receiving SMS notifications from Thursday, May 15. A reprinted exam slip sighted by Edutimes Africa shows one affected candidate has been reassigned to write the exam on Saturday, May 17, 2025, by 12 noon at a centre in the Igando area of Alimosho Local Government, Lagos.
JAMB emphasized its commitment to ensuring all affected candidates are given a fair opportunity to participate in the UTME under proper conditions.
