Lagos State University (LASU) has once again proven its commitment to academic distinction as one of its brightest legal minds, Lawal Maryam Abiodun, emerged as the Best Graduating Female Student and the Second Overall Best Graduating Student at the Nigerian Law School’s Call to Bar ceremony held on July 10, 2025, in Abuja.
A proud alumna of LASU’s Faculty of Law (Common and Islamic Law), Maryam stood out among 7,134 newly called lawyers, exemplifying the calibre of excellence LASU nurtures in its students.
The historic feat was witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Kareem Olatoye, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the event.
He described Maryam as “a true ambassador of LASU” and applauded her discipline, brilliance, and unwavering pursuit of excellence, urging other students to follow her example.
In her congratulatory message, the Vice-Chancellor praised Maryam’s success as a proud moment for the university community.
She commended the Faculty of Law, led by Professor Olatoye, for their tireless commitment to producing outstanding legal professionals.
