The United States government has restated its commitment to helping Nigerian students, innovators, and young leaders pursue higher education opportunities in America.
At the 2025 EducationUSA Fair in Abuja, U.S. Embassy Public Diplomacy Officer Brian Neubert said the U.S. remains open to Nigerian talent and will continue to provide support systems for prospective students.
What Is the EducationUSA Fair?
The fair, themed “Empowering Futures: Discover American Excellence in Education and Innovation”, is an annual event that connects international students with U.S. higher education institutions.
28 American universities and colleges participated in this year’s Abuja edition.
Students, parents, and school counselors had direct access to information on admission requirements, scholarships, financial aid, and academic programmes.
U.S. Commitment
Neubert highlighted that EducationUSA offers free counselling services to guide Nigerian students through the U.S. admissions process. He urged applicants to:

Maximise their academic and cultural experiences while in the U.S.
Return home equipped with knowledge and skills to contribute to Nigeria’s growth.
He added:

Why This Matters
Nigeria has one of the fastest-growing populations of international students in the U.S. Many pursue degrees in STEM, business, and social sciences, with some securing scholarships and research placements that link directly to development needs back home.
The EducationUSA Fair, therefore, not only provides practical access to study opportunities but also strengthens U.S.–Nigeria educational and cultural ties.
