No fewer than 17 schools — 11 primary and six post-primary — across 11 communities have benefited from intervention projects by the KEFFESO Host Communities Development Trust (KHCDT).
The trust, which serves communities hosting the First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company, disclosed this during its first annual general meeting themed “Advancing Accountability and Sustainable Growth.”
Speaking at the event, Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Ojulari, described KHCDT as “the cornerstone of our common goal,” noting that its projects are designed to be community-led, participatory, and sustainable.
Represented by the Chief Upstream Officer, Mina Loveday, Ojulari urged members to work in unity and build a future where every member of the KEFFESO communities can thrive.
The Managing Director of First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company, Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, represented by Emmanuel Eteli, praised the trust for its impact-driven projects, noting that KHCDT has become “a model of collaboration founded on mutual trust and transparency.”
Chairman of the KHCDT Board of Trustees, King Moses Theophilus, said the trust had moved from planning to full operation since its inauguration in September 2023. He added that the education and healthcare programmes have already strengthened learning and improved wellbeing in beneficiary communities.
Looking ahead, KHCDT plans to expand its efforts to road construction, health facility upgrades, and improved school infrastructure across its host communities.
Financially, the trust announced a total income of ₦15.6 billion, expenditure of ₦375 million, and a surplus of ₦15.2 billion for the period between November 2023 and October 2024.
