The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lifted the suspension placed on two senior officials of the FCT Administration, directing them to resume duties with immediate effect amid renewed warnings against indiscipline in public service.
Those affected are the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo, and the Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Mr Michael Ango.
The reinstatement was confirmed in Abuja on Wednesday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, who said the decision followed a review of the circumstances surrounding their suspension.
Olayinka noted that while the officials have been allowed to return to office, the Minister stressed the need for strict adherence to laid-down procedures within the FCT Administration.
Dr Hayyo had been suspended on November 25 after issuing a circular that ordered early closure of schools in the FCT over alleged security concerns, a move that generated public reaction. Mr Ango, on the other hand, was placed on suspension on December 5, although the specific reason was not publicly disclosed.
The Minister’s decision to reinstate both officials underscores the FCT Administration’s emphasis on discipline, responsibility, and due process in governance.
