The Federal Ministry of Education has warned officials and members of its procurement board to strictly comply with due process in all contract and procurement activities.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, gave the directive while presiding over a meeting of the Ministerial Tenders Board (MTB) in Abuja.
He urged directors and board members to demonstrate diligence, transparency and accountability when handling procurement matters, stressing that the board plays a critical statutory role in ensuring government contracts are awarded in line with established rules.
According to him, all procurement activities within the ministry must strictly follow the provisions of the Public Procurement Act 2007 as well as other government procurement guidelines.
Enitan emphasised that professionalism, objectivity and careful scrutiny of documents presented before the board are essential to maintaining integrity in the procurement process.
The Permanent Secretary also revealed that concerns raised during a recent engagement with the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement reinforced the need for stricter compliance with procurement regulations across government institutions.
He further directed the Director of Procurement to ensure that all proceedings of the Ministerial Tenders Board are properly documented and endorsed to maintain accurate official records.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening procurement oversight and promoting transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
The statement was issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the ministry, Boriowo Folasade.
