Lagos State University has announced the commencement of recruitment for the positions of Registrar and Bursar, ahead of anticipated vacancies in July 2026.
In an internal and external advertisement, the university’s Governing Council said the move is in line with the provisions of the Lagos State University Law 2004 (as amended), which empowers it to appoint principal officers for the institution.
The university, established in 1983, noted that it remains one of Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions, with 16 faculties, six schools, nine centres and three institutes spread across four campuses.
The Registrar, a principal officer, will serve as the chief administrative officer of the university and secretary to key statutory bodies, including Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation. Candidates are required to possess a good honours degree, a relevant higher degree, and at least 15 years of administrative experience, including five years at the level of Deputy Registrar.
Similarly, the Bursar will oversee the financial operations of the university, including budgeting, financial reporting and internal controls. Applicants must have a degree or HND in Accounting, relevant professional certifications such as ICAN, ACA, ACMA or ANAN, and a minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience, alongside five years as Deputy Bursar.
Both positions require proficiency in ICT, while candidates for the Bursar role are also expected to demonstrate competence in accounting software and emerging AI tools.
According to the advertisement, each appointment is for a single term of four years, renewable once, and applicants must not be older than 60 years by July 2026.
Successful candidates will earn salaries on CONUNASS 15, alongside other allowances approved by the university’s Governing Council.
Interested applicants are required to submit 15 copies of their detailed curriculum vitae, including academic and professional qualifications, work experience, and referees. Applications must be submitted under confidential cover to the Vice-Chancellor at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, LASU, Ojo, Lagos, within six weeks of the publication.
The university added that only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview at a later date.
