The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has called on candidates and parents to report cases where qualified candidates are denied admission despite meeting requirements in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made the appeal during an interview on Good Morning Nigeria, a programme of the Nigerian Television Authority.
He said candidates who are confident of their scores and eligibility should raise complaints, noting that the admission process is now transparent and verifiable.
According to him, the Central Admission Processing System has significantly improved fairness in admissions, making it easier to track and resolve issues.
Oloyede criticised the tendency of some parents to seek illegal shortcuts, stating that many still believe admission can only be secured through unethical means.
He maintained that such practices are no longer necessary, as the system ensures due process.
“If you are sure of your score and believe you deserve admission, report to us. CAPS has made everything easy,” he said.
The registrar noted that since the introduction of CAPS in 2017, the board has recorded no major issues with admission processing.
He also disclosed that JAMB has tightened its verification processes for Direct Entry admissions to curb fraud.
According to him, the board has intensified checks on A-level qualifications such as JUPEB and IJMB, reducing cases of result forgery.
He revealed that dozens of fraudulent attempts have been detected and prevented, while some candidates were caught presenting fake credentials.
Oloyede added that degrees submitted for admission are now verified directly with awarding institutions, including foreign universities, to ensure authenticity.
The board reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and integrity in the admission process while encouraging candidates to rely on official channels.
