EKSU to Graduate 10,959, Retains Top State University Ranking
Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, will this week graduate 10,959 students across diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels as part of its 30th convocation activities.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press conference, noting that the figure comprises 284 diploma holders, 10,125 bachelor’s degree graduates, and 550 higher degree recipients.
He revealed that 82 students graduated with First Class honours, while 2,794 earned Second Class Upper, 6,020 obtained Second Class Lower, 1,217 had Third Class, and 12 graduated with Pass degrees.
Ayodele also highlighted the university’s recent academic milestone, stating that EKSU has been ranked the Best State University in Nigeria in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, placing 12th among over 300 universities nationwide.
The Vice-Chancellor said the institution would confer honorary doctorate degrees on two distinguished alumni, Abayomi Adeyeri and Akinsanmi Falaki, in recognition of their contributions to society.
He noted that the university has recorded significant progress under his leadership, including the expansion of faculties from 12 to 14 and the introduction of new postgraduate programmes in Nursing Science, alongside existing postgraduate medical programmes.
Ayodele added that all academic programmes in the university now have full accreditation from the National Universities Commission.
On staff welfare, he stated that salaries and pensions are up to date, while promotions have been consistently implemented for qualified staff. According to him, 111 academic staff and 590 non-teaching staff were promoted in 2025.
He further disclosed that 15 inaugural lectures were delivered within the past year as part of efforts to strengthen research and knowledge dissemination.

Tertiary Education Trust Fund and other stakeholders for their support in infrastructure development and staff training, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to sustaining its academic standards and national ranking
