Many Nigerians dream to study abroad, but it is often out of reach due to the cost of tuition and living.
However, the government of Ireland is offering a new opportunity that removes those financial barriers through a fully funded Master’s scholarship.
The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria has announced that applications for the 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme will open on June 29, giving eligible Nigerians the chance to pursue a one-year Master’s degree at leading universities in Ireland.
The embassy disclosed the opportunity in a post on its X handle on Friday, stating that the programme is open to early and mid-career professionals from Nigeria and Ghana.
“Applications for the Ireland Fellows Programme opens on 29 June 2026! Apply for the opportunity to study in Ireland on a fully funded master’s scholarship,” the embassy stated.
According to the embassy, applicants must be resident nationals of Nigeria or Ghana, possess at least a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower, and have at least three years of relevant work experience.
As for Nigerian applicants, the fellowship includes the Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights, which supports Master’s programmes in Law, Human Rights and Governance.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, accommodation support, return flight tickets, visa costs and health insurance.
Applications will remain open until July 26, 2026.
