The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has fixed October 31, 2026, as the deadline for the conclusion of admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision was taken at the 2026 Annual Policy Meeting on Admissions held in Abuja, where stakeholders reviewed and approved a uniform timetable for admission exercises across the country.
Under the directive, public universities are expected to conclude admissions on or before the October 31 deadline, with strict enforcement through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
JAMB warned that institutions that fail to meet the deadline will lose access to candidates on the CAPS platform once the window closes.
“At the expiration of the period, any institution that failed to conduct its admission will no longer have the candidates on its platform on CAPS,” the board stated.
The policy meeting, which brought together vice-chancellors, rectors and other education stakeholders, is part of efforts to streamline admission processes and enforce compliance with approved national guidelines.
JAMB also reiterated that institutions must carry out admissions strictly within the approved schedule, stressing that deviation would not be tolerated.
The resolution is aimed at improving coordination in the tertiary education system and ensuring that admission processes are completed within a clear and enforceable national timetable.
