Our client is a technology-driven food ordering and delivery platform connecting customers with restaurants and reliable delivery.We’re building our founding team in Lagos and looking for experienced builders, operators and problem-solvers across Operations, Merchant Success, Engineering, Marketing & Content, and Finance & Admin. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Merchant Success Lead will build and own the merchant ecosystem. You will be responsible for bringing the right restaurants onto the platform, getting them live quickly, building strong relationships with operators and ensuring merchants generate meaningful value from the platform.This is not a traditional account-management role.
We are looking for a commercial operator who can hunt, close, onboard, retain and grow accounts. You should be comfortable walking into a restaurant, speaking directly with the owner or decision-maker, understanding their business, identifying an opportunity and closing the partnership.
Key Responsibility
Build our founding portfolio of high-quality restaurant partners.
Identify and prioritise restaurants based on brand fit, location, customer demand, cuisine, operational capability and commercial potential.
Own the merchant acquisition pipeline from prospecting through signed agreements.
Conduct outbound outreach, meetings, negotiations and commercial presentations.
Build relationships with restaurant owners, founders and senior operators.
Own merchant onboarding from documentation and verification through menu setup and go-live.
Coordinate merchant content production, photography and platform presentation.
Ensure merchants meet our operational and customer-experience standards.
Monitor merchant performance including order volume, fulfilment, ratings, availability and customer feedback.
Identify underperforming merchants and develop action plans to improve performance.
Identify opportunities to increase merchant order volume and platform engagement.
Resolve merchant issues quickly and protect long-term relationships.
Build scalable merchant onboarding and account-management processes.
Maintain accurate CRM and pipeline data.
Provide market intelligence to the CEO and Product team on merchant needs, pricing, competition and customer behaviour.
Help shape our merchant strategy as the platform scales.
Candidates Requirement
4+ years of experience in B2B sales, business development, partnerships, account management or merchant operations.
Proven track record of personally acquiring and closing B2B accounts.
Experience working directly with restaurant, hospitality, retail, FMCG or other consumer-facing businesses.
Strong commercial instincts and negotiation ability.
Ability to prospect independently rather than relying entirely on inbound leads.
Comfortable speaking with business owners and senior decision-makers.
Strong understanding of the Lagos restaurant and lifestyle market.
Highly organised with the ability to manage a large pipeline and multiple active merchant relationships.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working with targets, conversion rates and revenue metrics.
Strong follow-through,you do what you say you will do.
You will stand out if you have:
Existing relationships within Lagos’ restaurant and hospitality ecosystem.
Experience at a marketplace, delivery, e-commerce, hospitality-tech or consumer-tech company.
Experience managing a portfolio of 50+ merchants/accounts.
Demonstrated ability to exceed acquisition or revenue targets.
Experience using CRM and sales analytics tools.
Experience turning difficult or inactive accounts into productive partners.
