Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM 1, has officially withdrawn from the race for the Awujale of Ijebuland and discontinued his legal action challenging the selection process.
KWAM 1 filed a notice of discontinuation at the Ogun State High Court on Monday, December 22, 2025, bringing an end to his suit against the Ogun State Government and other parties involved in the emergence of a new Awujale. The notice was submitted by his legal team, led by Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN.
His decision followed a ruling by Justice A. A. Omoniyi of High Court 3, Ijebu-Ode Judicial Division, who dismissed his application for an interim injunction. The application sought to stop Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, and others from continuing with the selection process. The court ruled that the application lacked merit, although it allowed the substantive suit to proceed and fixed January 14, 2026, for further hearing.
KWAM 1, who holds the title of Olori Omooba of Ijebuland and hails from the Fidipote Ruling House, approached the court after the Fusengbuwa Ruling House declared him ineligible to contest for the throne. The ruling house maintained that he was not a bona fide member and therefore could not seek the stool under its platform.
With the filing of the notice of discontinuation, KWAM 1 has effectively stepped aside from the Awujale selection process, bringing his legal challenge and bid for the revered throne to an end.
