The Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Council Development Area, Abisola Omisore, has celebrated women on the occasion of International Women’s Day, commending their resilience, leadership, and invaluable contributions to society.
In a statement marking the global celebration, Omisore described women as pillars of families, communities, and national development. He acknowledged the critical roles women play in governance, education, business, and community building, noting that their efforts continue to shape a more inclusive and progressive society.
He noted that the annual observance of International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the need to continue advocating for gender equality, women’s empowerment, and greater opportunities for women to thrive in all sectors.
According to him, women in Ikeja LCDA have consistently demonstrated strength, creativity, and leadership in driving community development and supporting grassroots initiatives.
Omisore reaffirmed the council’s commitment to policies and programmes that promote the welfare, empowerment, and participation of women in governance and decision-making processes.
He also encouraged women and girls to remain confident, pursue their ambitions, and continue to inspire positive change within their communities.
“Today, we celebrate the strength, courage, and achievements of women. Your contributions to our society are immeasurable, and we remain committed to creating an environment where every woman can reach her full potential,” he said.
International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8 to recognise the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while also advocating for gender equality around the world.
