A terrifying crash on Epe’s Onipanu road left two students and their teacher shaken but unhurt after the vehicle carrying them collided with another car on Wednesday evening.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that both vehicles were reportedly speeding when the accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. The impact caused one car to swerve into the opposite lane, damaging both vehicles.
The students, Animashaun Ridwan and Ogunbamowo Michael, both in JSS 2 at Lagos State Model Junior College, Igbonla, Epe, experienced head and eye discomfort. Paramedics quickly attended to them, providing first aid before safely returning them to their parents.
Their teacher, Mr Joseph, a Basic Technology instructor, also escaped injury.
“The vehicles were safely evacuated, and the damaged Suzuki Alto was removed with our Light Tow Truck to prevent further incidents,” said LASEMA Permanent
Secretary Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu. Both vehicles have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
LASEMA urged motorists to drive responsibly, obey speed limits, and prioritise road safety. “Reckless driving endangers lives. This incident underscores the need for caution on our roads,” Oke-Osanyintolu added.
