The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital has graduated 37 students from the pioneer cohort of its Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Administration and Management.
The ceremony, held at the hospital’s MRC Auditorium, marked the completion of the programme, which is affiliated with the School of Postgraduate Studies, Lagos State University.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, urged the graduates to apply their knowledge to improve patient care and strengthen accountability within healthcare systems.
He emphasised that as the pioneer set, the graduates carry the responsibility of setting standards and shaping the future of the programme.
Fabamwo described the course as a strategic effort to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and effective healthcare management, noting that modern health systems require professionals with both medical understanding and administrative competence.
He added that the programme was designed to build leadership capacity, enhance resource management, and improve service delivery in health institutions.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment and Training, Dr. Olubusola Abidakun, encouraged the graduates to prioritise continuous learning and mentor future participants.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Health Service Commission, Dr. Abimbola Mabogunje, represented at the event, described the programme as a boost to the state’s healthcare system and urged the graduates to uphold professionalism and integrity.
The Dean of the Postgraduate Group, Lagos State University, Prof. Ibrahim Olateju, said the milestone marks the beginning of new opportunities for the graduands, urging them to remain resilient and forward-thinking.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Guild of Lagos State Medical Directors, Dr. Olumide Sojinrin, highlighted the critical role of hospital administrators in ensuring efficient operations, financial management, and quality patient care.
The event was attended by key officials of the hospital, including directors across clinical, administrative, finance, and nursing departments.
