Governance Fellow (Remote) – Global Artivism
Global Artivism, a Global Majority-led movement and a fiscally sponsored project of Res Publica US Inc., is inviting Expressions of Interest for the role of Governance Fellow.
This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about governance, movement-building, and social justice to contribute to a global initiative that uses arts and culture as a force for systemic change.
Location: Remote (Open Globally – Priority for Global South applicants)
Contract Duration: 8 Months (Starting August 2026, renewable)
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor
Monthly Fee: USD $1,200 – $1,800

Role Overview
The Governance Fellow will support the design, development, and coordination of governance systems, contributing to democratic structures and institutional processes within the movement.
Working closely with the Governance Lead and Movement Secretariat, the Fellow will help strengthen governance architecture, documentation, and coordination across committees and leadership structures.
Key Responsibilities
Governance Documentation
Develop and maintain governance frameworks and documentation
Organize and manage governance document libraries
Prepare materials for council and committee meetings
Committee Coordination
Support scheduling, agendas, and meeting documentation
Track decisions, action points, and follow-ups
Facilitate communication between teams and committees
Democratic Transition Support
Assist in electoral framework development and governance processes
Support documentation for the Democratic Transition Roadmap (2025–2027)
Track governance milestones and progress
Research & Analysis
Conduct research on governance models and participatory systems
Prepare reports, briefings, and comparative analyses
Stay updated on trends in decentralized leadership and democracy
Requirements
Required:
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Excellent written communication in English
Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
Demonstrated interest in governance, social movements, or institutional design
Experience (formal or informal) in community organizing, cooperative governance, or participatory processes
Ability to operate as an independent contractor
Preferred:
Background in Governance, Law, Political Science, or International Development
Experience with NGOs, civil society, or grassroots movements
Interest in Global Majority leadership and distributed power systems
Familiarity with arts, culture, or activism spaces
Multilingual abilities (especially Global South languages)
Work Arrangement
Fully remote and flexible
Contractors manage their own schedule and workload
Participation in cross-time-zone meetings is expected
Responsible for own taxes, insurance, and compliance
