Salem University, Lokoja, has revealed that 41 of its 499 graduating students will receive first-class degrees during its combined convocation ceremony for the 2022, 2023, and 2024 academic sessions. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 29, 2024.
This announcement was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alewo Akubo, at a pre-convocation press briefing held on Monday in Lokoja. The graduating students come from seven colleges within the university, including the Colleges of Management and Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Humanities, Education, Communication and Information Technology, Law, and the Postgraduate School.
Professor Akubo also disclosed that the newly accredited College of Basic Health and Medical Sciences would soon commence operations. Highlighting the university’s contribution to society, he said, “Our graduates are change agents, equipped to contribute to the development of Kogi State, Nigeria, and the global community.”
The Vice-Chancellor urged stakeholders, including the Kogi State Government and the Federal Government, to support private universities in Nigeria, emphasizing their significant role in producing skilled and ethical graduates.
The convocation activities will include a lecture by renowned Professor of Political Economy, Sam Egwu, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Salem University continues to celebrate academic excellence as it marks another milestone in its history.
